I'm looking for what people use for flying bases for tiny figures and small figures. I want to customize some of my small star wars miniatures/ddm miniatures so that flying creatures appear to be actually flying. Looking for clear rods? If i go to a craft store/hardware store what should i ask for

For these, droidsI used Plastruct rods, and woodsies. The smallest woodsies are perfect for tiny, and the next size up is for small.

I got the plastruct from the web page, (they work great for sabers too depending on the width), and the woodsies from a local craft store.

Some RPG and mini stats including the Exodus and AAT (along with good source of a Mini scale version of the AAT).

thanks.

any tips you can give for using greenstuff and modding figures. What tools do you use for example in removing one figures head and replacing it with another. Do you use a combination of grenstuff and glue or does greenstuff cover it? Can this stuff be bought at say a home Depot? Modding and creating new mins is brand new area for me and none of my gaming friends have ventured into this area.

I prefer modding over sculpting, I haven't tried to tackle a full humanoid mini, I have only gone for heads, and some cloths mods with humanoids. I will sculpt alien things (Dianogs, Beholders, etc) things that don't have human proportions. As i don't trust my skills in sculpting people so I prefer head, body, body part swaps for changing minis and then sculpting aliens.

Since I do card stock modeling as well i have a nice collection of X-Acto knives, and honestly sometimes nail clippers (work good for the plastruct rods, guns, and some small pewter bits) for cutting minis and apart. A pair of forcepts (twizers) can be handy too. For the sculpting i bought a random little set of tools from micheals but end up using like pencil tips, paint brush ends, and random things like that more often than not, as broken pencil tips leave interesting patterns.

Generally since I do mods I use super glue, but some times the "green stuff" works fine for sticking and staying, and doens't require glueing, sometimes does. think it depends on size of bit. Large things seem to stick fine on thier own. But then I don't use green stuff , i use the cheaper, "old school" green stuff. Green stuff is epoxy resin putty that started out as basically welders/plumbing compound. I go to the Home depot and buy tubes of Auqa meld( or mend), essentially same stuff as Green Stuff, but the difference is the ratio of the two parts. Green stuff is more equal in the ratio than the workmens putty. So Green stuff cures longer. Which for me and smaller parts and bits the 15 minute work time is fine I don't do massively detialed things that need hours of before they set.
and it's cheaper.

But for the most part i just do swaps, or mods I have been using things like the War games Factory minis for parts (like arms, heads, bodies) so far the best guns i have found are Heresy (brit company) haven't gotten any of the Reaper ones yet, as i like many of the smaller ones from Heresy, and the reaper guns look bigger. i will likey get a sprue of some german weapons from ?Perry? soon as they look great and many sw weapons were re tooled WWII guns, some of them are spot on from the set that were used for the stormtroopers.

I just snips off, the parts, swap and glue.
