$20 is $5 a Beholder. There is no way a Beholder would only cost $5 on the secondary market. A COMMONBeholder would probablyshoot up to $6 within minutes of Auggie preselling it.

Think how much we've saved by not getting any new minis for so long...I guess I'll consider the price a "new mini tax" and deal with it. Not like I can get official D&D minis any place else.

Thank you sir, may I have another?

I don't mind the price tag though I'm a touch disappointed about one of them being an Eye of Frost (already repainted my 2nd eye of flame for that). That being said my opinion may change once I see the actual sculpts. I've contacted my FLGS about the possibility of ordering the set and I'll be keeping my eye on Auggies as well in case he does any preorders like he did with Orcus (and if he already has then I'm apparantly in desperate need of an optometrist so I hope he hasn't.)

I think $35 for 4 beholders is reasonable myself. I would have liked to see an Eye of the Deep as well, but I can certainly live with this selection and possibly mod the tyrant into an eye of the Deep (possibly changing to deffinitely if I end up with 2 of these boxed sets due to ordering out of paranoia).

Overall, I'm still optimistic about this product.

I would really love an Eye of the Deep. Look at my avatar! We're probably going to get one in 4E anyway,s o why hold back on the miniature?

Also, an Eye of Chaos would be lulzy awesome.

Well yes! an Eye of the Deep would be better than a repeat, or even repainted, Beholder.
Sorry to hear about the Eye of Frost mishap.
I too am enthusiastic about the product, just not the price.

I'll still pick up a set I'm sure, though if it is really 2 previously seen sculpts instead of 1 (like I thought it was going to be) I may just pick up one instead of the two I was planning on. I'm in the 'wait and see how they look' boat on buying 2 sets currently.

It's gonna kind of suck if the new Eye of Frost is exactly like Snowball though - on the one hand it will be a cheap way for folks to get a hold of their very own 'Snowball' but on the other hand, for those who forked out hundreds of $$$ on eBay to get them it will be a little disappointing. My guess though is that the Eye of Frost is probably exactly like Snowball except without the neat plastic case and the text on top of the base.

My take (speculation of course)

Beholder Eye of Frost - Snowball without the box and fancy holiday base text. I don't mind having this to RPG with but I do think it will probably de-value the original a lot on the secondary market. I can hear the collector's screams even now. I'm guessing we may see some of the originals pop up soon for sale once this set becomes common knowledge.

Ghost Beholder - OK, this one I've really high hopes for. This and the Eye of Shadow may make the set worth buying if done right.

Eye of Shadow - See above.

Beholder Eye Tyrant - My guess is that this is an attempt to re-do the Beholder Eye Tyrant from Dangerous Delves with a base that isn't floppy. Meh...got 2 already and have re-based one already.

Hm, I could actually go for some more beholders myself, currently i'm at 4 total, x1 DK Beholder, x1 Eye of Flame,x1 Eye Tyrant, and x1 Ultimate Tyrant. 4 Beholders for $35 in money terms is a little pricey, but in miniature terms it isn't too bad, I guess it will just depend on how much extra money I have when it come out, so far the LOM set and the Castle Ravenloft game has higher priority, only Orcus has a lower priority than the Beholder set. I really do wanna get an Orcus, but with everything coming out around the same time it keeps putting it further back on the list

My predictions?

Eye of Frost - same sculpt as Eye of Flame/Snowball, but not transluscent. Think Rimefire Griffon paintjob, but much better-detailed.

Eye Tyrant - slight repaing of the one we got in Dangerous Delves.

Ghost Beholder - trnasluscent, probably mimicking the art we have. It would rock if there was a Beholder Corpse on the base, but don't get your hopes up.

Eye of Shadow - a complete wild card. The Eye of Shadow has no art whatsoever. Smooth? Scaley? Transluscent? Purple? Who knows!

If the Eye of Frost comes close to the Snowball, I'll be ecstatic! Have been dying to get one of those.

Well, color me unimpressed. The set is a big disappointment for me already from this information...

We have so many unique-looking beholder subtypes they could have chosen from - most of whom are in 4E already, by the way... I meant guys like the Eye of the Deep, Death Kiss, Spectator (I loved that guy in BG), Beholder Mage, Observer....

Instead, we get a ghost beholder (why is that any different from the undead variant?) and a... shadow beholder? What is that? Anyone can drop me a description, or what its powers are?

The EYe of Shadow turns invisible, teleports, blinds you, immobilizes you, and is very noisy (since "Thunder" damage is really just sonic). No art for it, surprisingly.

Pretty cool box!

Love the Eye of Frost 'snowball'
Beholders are a great limited release- don't need more than one.

This is a little let down for me, I was really hoping for an Eye of the Deep and some of the beholderkin but undead and shadow beholder and 2 I already have enough of. Too bad they missed the boat on this one. I was excited for this... :(
